Corporate Profile

From Sanlucar de Barrameda to the world

Presence in more than 50 countries

In a little slice of paradise in the south of Spain called Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the Barbadillo family bottled the first Manzanilla in 1827 only six years after its foundation. This age-old, family business hasn’t looked back since.

What began as a winery for producing manzanillas, sherries and brandies has become an internationally renowned group that, in addition to developing new products within its own geographical region, has incorporated wineries from other designations of origin, such as Bodegas y Viñedos Vega Real, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, and Bodega Pirineos, in the D.O. Somontano.

Barbadillo owes its long and successful history to a strong commitment to innovation and professionalism. Values that, in turn, herald a future of constant expansion for the company. Barbadillo currently has a presence in more than 50 markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Denmark and the United States. And it is still expanding…

Barbadillo Group

Every little detail plays a part in creating a great company like Barbadillo

Family-based:

Barbadillo is one of the ten largest and oldest family businesses in Spain. With 200 years of history, it is still 100% a family business. A place where we respect and care for tradition without forgetting the importance of constant innovation.

Pioneering:

We have been at the forefront of the sector for centuries, pioneers in many ways. We bottled the first Manzanilla exported to Philadelphia in 1827. We were the first to call this type of wine ‘manzanilla’. We produced the first Andalusian white wine made 100% from palomino fino grapes in 1975.

Innovative:

As a result of our pioneering nature, we have numerous achievements under our belt in the field of innovation. One example is the work and effort invested in recovering the autochthonous grape variety called Tintilla de Rota, which had almost become extinct.

An exporter:

We have been exporting manzanilla and other wines around the world since 1827, which is an extensive guarantee of our experience and history in this area. We currently have a presence in more than 50 countries: Germany, France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Russia…

Avantgarde:

We continue making wines in the same places they were made in 200 years ago, respecting tradition while innovating with techniques and processes such as smart labelling, the natural presence of fizz or using big data and artificial intelligence for control.
